According to an official invitation from the Chinese government, National Assembly Chairperson Woo Won-shik attended the 80th anniversary event of China's victory on the 3rd, where he interacted with national leaders such as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Chairperson's side stated that he interacted with various heads of state by attending the parade and welcome reception lunch on that day. They noted, "Before observing the parade, I exchanged handshakes with North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un."
The meeting between Chairperson Woo and President Xi was the second of its kind, and the Chairperson requested President Xi to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting to be held in Gyeongju in October.
He requested President Putin to show interest in the 130 corporations from our country operating in Russia. President Putin expressed special concern regarding inter-Korean relations and the Korea issue, asking the Chairperson how he views inter-Korean relations and what message should be conveyed to Leader Kim Jong Un during the North-Russia summit.
In response, Chairperson Woo Won-shik stated, "I hope that the North and South will open an era of peace and prosperity," adding, "Establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula is very important even in difficult circumstances, and I will make efforts to achieve this."
On the 4th, Chairperson Woo will meet with Zhao Leji, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, who is third in the Chinese state hierarchy. In the afternoon, he is scheduled to meet with Ding Xuexiang, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of China's economy, science and technology, and Mirae Industries.
