On the 25th (local time), following the U.S.-South Korea summit, a 'U.S.-South Korea Business Roundtable' was held, where influential figures from both countries gathered to discuss elevating the U.S.-South Korea alliance into a 'technology alliance.'
About 50 representatives from the U.S. and South Korean governments and corporations attended the event.
From the South Korean government, President Lee Jae-myung, Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, National Security Office Director Wi Sung-lac, Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung-kwan, Foreign Minister Park Jin, Chief Negotiator for Trade Yeo Han-koo, and former Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, who has been nominated as the ambassador to the U.S., were present.
Representing South Korean corporations were Ryu Jin, Chairman of The Federation of Korean Industries, Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, Kim Sang-hyun, Vice Chairman of Lotte, Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha, Chung Ki-sun, Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai, Huh Tae-soo, Chairman of GS, Cho Won-tae, Chairman of Korean Air, Lee Jae-hyun, Chairman of CJ, Koo Ja-eun, Chairman of LS, Park Gee-won, Chairman of Doosan Enerbility, Seo Jeong-jin, Chairman of Celltrion, and Choi Soo-yeon, representative of Naver. In total, 16 attended.
Notable U.S. corporate representatives included Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA; David Rubenstein, Co-Chairman of the Carlyle Group; Gary Dickerson, CEO of Applied Materials; Lyndon Blue, CEO of General Atomics, the world's largest drone company; Clay Sell, CEO of X-energy, one of the top three small modular reactor (SMR) companies in the U.S.; and Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril Industries, an AI defense company.
Also attending were Amin Silman, Chief Research Officer (CRO) of General Motors; Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of OpenAI; Michael Williams, President of Lockheed Martin; Gary Cohn, Vice Chairman of IBM; and Samir Samat, President of Google, among others, totaling 21 executives.
Executives from various sectors identified as future collaboration areas between the two countries, including semiconductors, defense, automobiles, energy, and AI, gathered in large numbers.
From the U.S. government, Minister Howard Lutnick from the Department of Commerce attended.
Chairman Lee Jae-yong and CEO Jensen Huang embraced and greeted each other warmly. CEO Choi Soo-yeon also engaged in a lengthy conversation with Huang.
President Lee also entered the reception hall and engaged in conversation with Chairman Chey Tae-won, CEO Jensen Huang, and representative Choi Soo-yeon.
At this gathering, President Lee stated, 'I would like to present three directions for a manufacturing renaissance vision that the two countries can win-win': ▲Enhancing cooperation in strategic industries ▲Expanding cooperation in advanced industries ▲Stabilizing supply chains for key items.
