Recently, a ranking of the world's most unfriendly countries, as voted by travelers on social media and online platforms, was revealed.
According to Yahoo on the 17th (local time), France topped the list based on travelers' experiences themed around 'the most unfriendly countries.'
The overwhelming number one was France. Complaints followed about unfriendly behavior, particularly in Paris, where speaking in English often led to being ignored or having one's pronunciation corrected without being given directions. There were also reports of service workers shouting at customers.
Morocco ranked second. Experiences were shared about being physically contacted by a local child or being pelted with stones on a bus, with persistent aggressive solicitation also cited as a discomfort.
Russia came in third. Travelers described the cold atmosphere on the streets, stating that smiling could make one appear suspicious. There were even extreme cases where an object was thrown at them during a performance.
Fourth was China, with many testimonies about experiencing impatience, especially in Beijing. Fifth place went to Turkey, where there were reports of cold treatment towards foreigners at places like Istanbul Airport.
The United States, in sixth place, received criticism for its strict immigration checks and varying attitudes across regions. Seventh was the United Kingdom, with London receiving the derogatory label of 'the capital of grumpiness,' and one traveler noted that because of their experience in London, 'Paris felt friendlier in comparison.'
In eighth place, Spain saw shared experiences of being ignored in the capital, Madrid. Ninth was Italy, where negative responses about unfriendliness were predominant in Rome and the northern regions, though there were positive accounts of warm hospitality in the south.
Estonia was ranked tenth. Travelers reported that most locals were cold and aloof. However, some testimonies indicated that they 'met the kindest people in their lives,' creating a dramatic contrast.
