U.S. President Donald Trump said he will meet with the South Korean trade negotiation delegation on the 30th (local time).
On this day, President Trump said in a post on social media platform Truth Social, "I will meet with the South Korean trade delegation this afternoon," adding, "South Korea currently has a tariff of 25% (reciprocal tariff), but they have come with a proposal to reduce that tariff."
He continued, "I am interested in hearing what that proposal is," noting, "I have spoken with the leaders of many countries, and they all want to make the United States very happy."
Currently, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Ku Yun-cheol, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong-kwan, and Yeo Han-koo, head of the Office of Trade Negotiations, have been in Washington conducting negotiations with the U.S. side.
On the 31st, final working-level negotiations between Deputy Prime Minister Ku Yun-cheol and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent are scheduled in Washington. However, before that, President Trump has indicated he will meet the South Korean negotiation delegation at the White House.
President Trump has shown an impromptu nature during the trade negotiation process. He pressured a transaction by directly inviting Japanese Economic Revitalization Minister Akazawa Ryosei to the White House for an unscheduled meeting.
Our country's negotiation delegation arrived at the White House around 4:30 p.m. to meet with Trump following his announcement.
