Six luxury watches belonging to Keanu Reeves, the protagonist of the 'John Wick' film series, were recovered in Chile after being stolen in the United States.
According to the Associated Press and others on the 29th (local time), Chilean authorities recovered the six watches stolen from Reeves at the end of last year and handed them over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Police estimated that the six watches, including Rolexes, are worth approximately $125,000 (about 173 million won).
Chilean police apprehended the robbers who broke into Reeves' home in California last December this year and recovered the stolen items from them. It is reported that the operation, conducted jointly with U.S. authorities based on FBI information, led to the arrest of the robbery suspects.
It is said that one of the recovered watches had the engraving 'Thank you. Five John Wicks. Keanu,' allowing identification of the owner. Reeves gifted watches with this engraving to stuntmen who replaced him during the filming of 'John Wick 4' in 2021.
Earlier, Chilean police revealed that they had arrested 23 individuals related to a series of robberies in the United States last April. The announcement regarding Reeves' watches came at a time when Kristi Noem, Minister of Homeland Security, was visiting Santiago, Chile, to discuss drug cartel crime suppression and immigration issues.
Minister Noem has also been a victim of theft perpetrated by Chilean nationals. Last April, while dining in Washington, D.C., with her family, she had her wallet stolen, and the perpetrator apprehended later was identified as Chilean.
