French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife have filed a defamation lawsuit against an American influencer in a U.S. court, the Financial Times (FT) reported on the 23rd (local time).
President Macron and his wife, Brigitte, demanded a jury trial and punitive damages, stating that the American influencer Candace Owens has continuously spread false information about the couple, causing serious harm to their honor and privacy. The lawsuit filed by the Macron couple is reported to be 218 pages long.
Owens claimed through her YouTube and Instagram that Mrs. Brigitte was born male. He also asserted that President Macron and Mrs. Brigitte are, in fact, related by blood.
The Macron couple stated in a statement, "Despite repeated requests from lawyers for corrections, Owens continued to make false claims," adding, "We deemed that referring the case to court was the only remaining option."
