U.S. President Donald Trump has launched attacks on former President Barack Obama. In the U.S., Obama and treason have been trending as top issues on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), while some criticize President Trump for trying to divert public attention amid controversies surrounding his involvement in the recent case of minor sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
While responding to reporters' questions about Epstein at a summit with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos at the White House on 22nd (local time), President Trump stated, "The gang leader is former President Obama," adding, "He is guilty, and this is treason."
He also claimed, "Obama orchestrated the coup." According to him, the so-called 'Russia Gate,' in which his campaign allegedly colluded with Russia to induce interference in the U.S. presidential election during the 2016 election, was devised by former President Obama.
President Trump urged an investigation into former President Obama's allegations of orchestrating 'Russia Gate,' stating, "It is time to start. It is time to chase them down."
Earlier, on 21st, President Trump shared a 'fake video' depicting former President Obama being arrested by federal agents on his social media account Truth Social. This video was created using generative artificial intelligence (AI).
Director General Avard of the National Intelligence Service (DNI) also revealed on the 18th that officials from the Obama administration manipulated information to make it appear as though Russia interfered in the U.S. presidential election. In response, conservative commentators like Tucker Carlson are advocating for Obama's arrest.
Meanwhile, Patrick Rodenbush, a spokesperson for former President Obama's office, rebutted in a statement sent to the press that "the bizarre allegations raised by President Trump and Director General Avard are a powerless attempt to divert attention," calling it "absurd."
