U.S. President Donald Trump rebutted a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report regarding speculation about the dismissal of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell as "a typical lie."
On the same day, he demanded that sports teams which changed their names out of concern for racial discrimination revert to their original names.
Trump criticized on the 20th (local time) in a post on his social media (SNS) platform Truth Social, stating "WSJ continued its lies by reporting that Scott Bessent, the Minister of Finance, explained to me that firing Chair Powell would not be good for the market."
Previously, WSJ reported that "Minister Bessent advised Trump regarding the market and economic risks that could arise from firing Chair Powell."
Trump asserted, "No one needs to explain that to me. I know better than anyone what is good for the market," adding, "People do not explain to me. I explain to them."
This is not the first time Trump and WSJ have been in conflict.
Recently, Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against WSJ for $10 billion (approximately 14 trillion won) over reports related to the 'Epstein allegations.'
Meanwhile, on the same day, President Trump urged on social media that the Washington D.C.-based football team "Washington Commanders" and the baseball team "Cleveland Guardians" restore their former names "Redskins" and "Indians," respectively.
The two teams changed their names in 2020 and 2021 due to criticism that their previous team names were racially derogatory expressions towards Native Americans.
Trump pressured that if the Washington team does not change its name, he might not grant them a new stadium construction contract, asserting that Cleveland owner Matt Dolan lost three consecutive elections because he changed the name.
Trump added, "Indians are being treated very unfairly. Make Indians great again (MIGA)!"
On the same day, Trump also posted a message celebrating six months of his presidency.
He remarked, "I am credited with one of the most significant periods for any president," stating, "I completely revived a dying country."
