Prince Alwaleed bin Khalid bin Talal Al Saud of Saudi Arabia has died. He was 35 years old.
Saudi media Al Arabiya reported on the 19th (local time) that Prince Alwaleed, who had been in a coma for 20 years and was known as the 'sleeping prince,' has passed away. His father, King Khalid bin Talal Al Saud (63), shared on X (formerly Twitter), 'With a heart that believes in God's will and destiny, I mourn my beloved son, Prince Alwaleed, with great sadness and grief.' He has shown deep paternal affection by caring for Prince Alwaleed during his long illness.
Born in April 1990, Prince Alwaleed fell into a coma after a traffic accident while attending military school in London in 2005, suffering a severe brain hemorrhage. He had been on life support for over 20 years but ultimately did not recover. The family will receive condolences for three days starting on the 20th at the Alwaleed Palace in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
