U.S. President Donald Trump posted a fake video depicting former President Barack Obama handcuffed and imprisoned on his social media.
This is interpreted as an attempt to escalate attacks against former President Obama over recent allegations of information manipulation related to the 'Russia scandal.'
On the 21st (local time), President Trump posted a 45-second artificial intelligence (AI) generated video on his social media platform Truth Social. The video begins with scenes of former President Obama and other Democratic figures saying, 'No one is above the law.'
Shortly after, the scene shifts to the White House Oval Office, where an AI-generated version of President Trump watches as former President Obama is arrested by federal agents.
The background music features the song 'YMCA,' which is frequently used at Trump campaign events. The video concludes with former President Obama depicted in an orange prison uniform, trapped in jail.
The backdrop of the 'Obama arrest' video posted by U.S. President Donald Trump is the 'Russia scandal,' which has shaken American politics for eight years.
The Russia scandal involves allegations that during the presidential election process in November 2016, Trump received covert assistance from Vladimir Putin's Russian regime to defeat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
At that time, intelligence agencies, including the CIA, collectively drafted a report stating that 'Russia hacked the emails of senior officials of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Clinton campaign personnel to help Trump win immediately after the November 2016 election.'
This scandal has haunted President Trump throughout his presidency. In 2019, special counsel Robert Mueller concluded after a two-year investigation that 'no evidence was found that Trump's campaign conspired with the Russian government.'
Recently, Director General Tulsi Gabbard raised issues claiming that this scandal was manipulated by the Obama administration. Gabbard has referred the matter for a criminal investigation into former President Obama and the heads of the intelligence agencies at the time to the Justice Department and the FBI.
The video posted by President Trump is seen as an attempt to visually amplify these claims and rally his supporters.
The Democratic side dismissed Gabbard's claims as 'baseless', calling it a political attack aimed at branding former President Obama with a treason image.
