A vehicle crashed into a crowd in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, resulting in more than 20 injuries, according to reports from the Associated Press and Bloomberg News on the 19th (local time).
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Santa Monica Boulevard, resulting in a total of 28 injuries. Among them, 3 were reported to be in critical condition, 6 were classified as serious, and 19 as minor.
Initially, fire authorities reported 5 people in critical condition and 8 to 10 seriously injured, but later corrected the classification of the injured.
Social media photos of the accident scene showed a dark gray vehicle severely damaged in the front and debris scattered on the road. Approximately 100 firefighters were among the emergency responders, including ambulances and fire trucks.
The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined, but ABC News reported preliminary findings, citing fire officials, that the driver appeared to have lost consciousness and crashed into people outside a nightclub.
Santa Monica Boulevard, where the accident occurred, is one of the main roads connecting Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and is surrounded by famous tourist attractions such as the 'Hollywood Walk of Fame.'
