A helicopter appeared over Detroit, Michigan, scattering thousands of dollars in cash from the air, drawing attention.
According to reports from The Detroit News and others on the 30th of last month (local time), around 1 p.m. on the 27th, a helicopter appeared on a street in Detroit and dispersed cash from the air.
As bundles of money rained down from the sky, citizens rushed to pick up the cash with astonishment and joy. Vehicles on the road came to a stop, causing a delay in six lanes for several minutes.
As drivers also got out of their cars to rush for the money, the police blocked part of the road for about 30 minutes.
A woman working at a nearby store said, "It is estimated that thousands of dollars fell," adding, "Everyone who was there took a little bit." Another woman noted, "There were so many people. It felt like a really crazy situation."
It is reported that the cash was scattered from the air due to the last wishes of Darryl Thomas, a local resident. Darryl, who operated a car wash, recently passed away from Alzheimer's, and that day was the day of his funeral.
Darryl left a last wish saying, "I want to express my gratitude to the community," and wished, "I hope money rains down from the sky," and his family is said to have organized the event.
Even while bundles of money rained from above, the residents reportedly picked up the money in an orderly manner. One resident recalled, "No one fought, and there was no chaos," adding, "It was truly a beautiful situation."
