On the 23rd (local time), as Iran conducted missile attacks targeting the U.S. military bases in Al Udeid, Qatar, and Al Asad, Iraq, President Donald Trump convened an emergency response meeting in the White House Situation Room.
The U.S. political media Politico reported, citing an anonymous high-ranking White House official, that "After receiving reports of Iran's attack, Trump summoned Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, and others to the Situation Room."
Politico noted that this attack "suggests that Iran intends to escalate the conflict and could target U.S. forces or countries allied with Washington in other parts of the Middle East," adding, "This is the situation Trump has sought to avoid while urging negotiations."
There are no casualties reported due to the Iranian attack. The U.S. Ministry of National Defense confirmed the missile strike by Iran on the military base in Qatar, stating, "There were no American casualties, and the missiles fired by Iran were intercepted."
Qatar, which hosts the U.S. military base, also condemned Iran. Qatar's spokesperson issued a statement denouncing the attack as "a blatant violation of Qatar's sovereignty," stating that "Qatar's air defense system successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles."
