U.S. President Donald Trump expressed that he seeks the 'real end' to the Iranian nuclear issue and plans to demand Iran's complete abandonment of nuclear weapons, according to a report by Reuters on the 17th (local time).
Trump spoke about this while returning home on Air Force One during the G7 summit held in Canada, meeting with a CBS reporter. He warned that if Iran does not abandon its nuclear program, Israel's military response could continue, stating, 'You will know within the next two days.'
Regarding the possibility of sending Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff or Vice President JD Vance to Iran, he noted, 'That could happen' and said, 'I will return to Washington and assess the situation.'
Earlier, President Trump stated on the social media platform Truth Social regarding his return that it is unrelated to the ceasefire between Israel and Iran and is something much larger. He also mentioned that French President Emmanuel Macron misunderstands the background of his return, saying, 'He knows nothing about why I am going back.'
President Trump returned home around midnight the previous day due to tensions in the Middle East and is expected to convene the National Security Council (NSC) as soon as he arrives at the White House.
