Kim Jin-ah, the new Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (46, photo), is evaluated as an academic with an excellent sense of multilateral diplomacy.
Vice Minister Kim completed a bachelor's degree in English language and literature and political diplomacy at Pusan National University, and then graduated with a master's degree in international studies from Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies. He later received a Ph.D. in international relations from Tufts University Fletcher School.
Vice Minister Kim is currently a professor at Korea University of Foreign Studies LD department and has served as a disarmament advisor to the UN Secretary-General, director and research fellow at the North Korea Military Research Institute of the Korea Defense Research Institute, and a project evaluation committee member at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the last 21st presidential election, she served as a co-chairman of the practical diplomacy committee centered on national interests under the Democratic Party of Korea's global responsibility country committee, engaging in President Yoon's diplomatic policy planning.
The Presidential Office noted, "Her diverse and multifaceted experience, such as serving as an advisor to the Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command, stands out, and she is a promising scholar who is the third Korean to serve as an advisor to the UN Secretary-General. She is expected to safeguard Korea's national interests on the multilateral diplomacy stage."
