Minister Jo Tae-yeol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a phone call with Anita Anand, the new Canada Minister, on the 27th, during which they exchanged opinions on the bilateral relationship.
The two ministers reportedly agreed to strengthen the bilateral partnership, focusing on the 2+2 economic and security dialogue and the foreign and defense ministers' meetings that have been launched over the past two years.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the phone call held in the morning, Minister Jo Tae-yeol said, "Congratulations on Minister Anand's inauguration" and requested "the minister's attention and support for the development of the bilateral relationship going forward."
Minister Anand responded, "I wish the Korean presidential election goes well," and said, "I look forward to close cooperation for the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP)."
In addition, the two ministers agreed to coordinate so that a prompt call between the leaders of the two countries can take place after the Korean presidential election and reaffirmed their commitment to faithfully implement the five key cooperation areas of the CSP Action Plan.
