Koo Jun-yeob, who lost his wife, the late Shihsi Yuan (徐熙媛·서희원), has been reported on. He is known to visit the grave of Shihsi Yuan, who passed away in February, daily.
According to reports from Taiwanese media including Yiping News on the 22nd, Shihsi Yuan's mother, Huang Chun-mei (황춘매), expressed her longing for her daughter through her social media (SNS) and shared updates about Koo Jun-yeob.
Huang Chun-mei noted, "When I miss my daughter, I visit Jhinbaoshan (金宝山), where Shihsi Yuan's ashes are buried," adding, "Koo Jun-yeob is a warm-hearted and loyal person. His skin is darkened from being by Shihsi Yuan's side every day. The two shared a true love."
Koo Jun-yeob is currently working on a statue in honor of Shihsi Yuan. The statue is scheduled to be completed in time for the first anniversary of her passing, with Koo Jun-yeob handling the design.
A photo shared by Huang Chun-mei on her SNS on the 12th captured Koo Jun-yeob attending a family gathering. In the photo, he appeared noticeably gaunt, unrecognizable from his previously muscular build. Local Taiwanese media reported in March that Koo Jun-yeob suspended public activities after the funeral and had lost more than 12 kg.
Shihsi Yuan announced her marriage to Koo Jun-yeob, her lover from 20 years ago, in March 2022 after divorcing Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei (43·汪小菲·왕소비). However, the news of her passing came just before their third wedding anniversary. Shihsi Yuan died on February 2 from pneumonia complicated by the flu while on a family trip to Japan, at the age of 48.
After completing the cremation procedures in Japan, her remains were brought back to Taiwan. According to the deceased's wishes, a tree burial was planned, but following Koo Jun-yeob's hope for an "independent space to visit and be together with Shihsi Yuan at any time," the family decided to inter her remains at Jhinbaoshan.
