According to Bloomberg News, Prime Minister Carney made these remarks during a speech following the confirmation of the election victory. Carney targeted the United States, saying, "As I have warned for months, America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country," and added, "This is not a hollow threat. President Trump is trying to destroy us to own us."
He continued, saying, "The long-standing relationship between the United States and Canada is over," and noted that Canada has economic cooperation plans with third countries instead of the United States. He also stated, "Canada will become an energy superpower."
According to Bloomberg, as of 2:50 p.m., the Liberal Party is leading in 166 out of 343 electoral districts. The Liberal Party is currently 20 seats ahead of the Conservative Party, with 6 seats remaining for a majority.
