Russia conveyed its readiness to engage in unconditional dialogue with the United States regarding Ukraine.
Russian news agency TASS reported on the 26th (local time) that Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, said, "President Vladimir Putin has reiterated that he is ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine without preconditions," to U.S. special envoy Steve Whitekopf.
President Putin met for three hours at the Kremlin with special envoy Whitekopf, who visited Moscow the previous day. Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin foreign policy advisor who attended the meeting, noted, "The dialogue was constructive," and added that the focus was on the possibility of direct talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives regarding the Ukraine issue.
Russia has continuously expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States. President Putin also mentioned on the 21st that "Russia could engage in bilateral talks with Ukraine."
