A shooting incident occurred on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, resulting in at least 2 deaths.
On the 17th (local time), Florida State University police authorities announced in a news conference that 2 people have died and more than 5 have been transported to the hospital.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed, but authorities stated that neither of the 2 were students.
The suspect was also arrested at the scene and is in a transported state to the hospital.
According to authorities, the suspect is the 20-year-old son of a deputy sheriff responsible for local public safety, and the deputy's service weapon was found at the scene.
Earlier, Florida State University stated on its official X (formerly Twitter) account that there had been a report of a shooter in the student union area, and police had responded to the scene.
President Donald Trump said, "I have been briefed on this incident," calling it "a terrible thing."
