As the United States has launched a total tariff bomb of 125% on Chinese imports, China has stated that "while the door to dialogue is open, it must proceed in an equal manner based on mutual respect."

He Yongqian, Spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce, said at a regular briefing that "pressure, threats, and intimidation are not the correct transaction methods between China and the United States," adding that "we hope to resolve differences appropriately through dialogue and negotiation based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful co-existence, and cooperative win-win."

He added that "China strongly condemns and firmly opposes the U.S. tariffs," stating that "China will firmly promote high-level foreign openness despite the U.S. coercive tariffs."

He also noted that they are researching ways to support export companies suffering from U.S. tariffs in expanding their domestic sales channels.

Linjian, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, criticized at a regular briefing that "the United States seriously infringes upon the legitimate rights and interests of various countries for its own interests, seriously violates World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, severely undermines the rules-based multilateral trading system, and poses a serious threat to the stability of the global economic order."

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump raised tariffs on China to 125%. This came in response to China imposing an 84% tariff on U.S. imports. He also decided to suspend reciprocal tariffs on other countries for 90 days.
