Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the 8th (local time), "Two Chinese nationals fighting as part of the Russian military in Ukrainian territory have been captured."

President Zelensky shared a video of one of them on his X (formerly Twitter) that day. He wrote, "Personal identification, bank cards, and personal information were found among their belongings."

He noted, "In addition to these two, I have information that more Chinese nationals are included in the Russian occupying forces." He added, "Current intelligence agencies, the Security Service of Ukraine, and relevant military units are verifying the facts."

He also stated, "I instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to immediately contact Beijing to confirm China's position."

In the video shared by President Zelensky, a man in military uniform appears to be explaining something earnestly to Ukrainian officials. This man does not seem to have any major visible injuries.
