A male restroom installed at a famous amusement park in Thailand is causing controversy. The restroom features walls made of glass mirrors in front of the male urinals, allowing men urinating to see people using mirrors on the opposite side.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on 1st (local time), one wall of a restroom in a Thai amusement park is made of mirrored glass. One side appears like a regular mirror, but from the other side, one can see what is happening on the opposite side. This mirrored glass, typically used in interrogation rooms, was installed in the restroom.
In a video that caused controversy on social media, women were seen grooming their hair or touching up makeup in front of a large mirror, while men urinating inside the wall were watching the women.
The park's operating manager noted, "This design was intended to provide all visitors with a unique and fun experience." In response, netizens reacted negatively, expressing feelings of "disgust," "invasion of privacy," and "unpleasantness."
A similar case caused controversy in China as well. In 2021, a bar in Guangzhou was found to have installed glass mirrors in the women's restroom, allowing men in VIP rooms to see the women. Following this, the facility was dismantled due to government intervention.
