The day before, President Trump claimed during an interview with NBC that "We will obtain Greenland. It is 100% certain," adding that "There is a high possibility that we can do this without using force." He also suggested that he did not completely rule out the use of force for the merger of Greenland, saying, "I don't rule anything out."

In response, Prime Minister Nielsen wrote in a Facebook post that "President Trump says the U.S. will obtain Greenland. Let me be clear. The U.S. cannot obtain it (Greenland)." He continued, "We do not belong to anyone else," saying, "Our future is determined by us."

President Trump is openly expressing his intention to merge Greenland, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark. U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited Greenland on the 28th and claimed that Denmark is not adequately investing in Greenland's security, emphasizing the legitimacy of the merger.
