German automobile corporation BMW and Chinese e-commerce corporation Alibaba will jointly develop artificial intelligence (AI) for vehicles.
According to Bloomberg News on the 26th (local time), the two corporations held a ceremony that day to strengthen their strategic cooperation for vehicle AI development.
BMW is developing vehicle AI utilizing Banma's AI technology, supported by Alibaba. Banma's AI technology is a product developed in collaboration with Alibaba's AI model Qwen team.
The vehicle AI being developed by the two corporations will provide voice recognition, travel planning, and real-time traffic information, and it is expected to be equipped in the new BMW series produced in China, set to launch in the Chinese market next year.
Bloomberg News noted that "BMW relies heavily on China as a key market" and that "it is facing difficulties as competition intensifies with local electric vehicle manufacturers such as BYD."
