U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that he will announce itemized tariffs on automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and aluminum.
Major foreign media outlets, including Reuters, reported that President Trump noted during a cabinet meeting at the White House on the 24th (local time), "I will announce an itemized tariff policy in the near future."
President Trump has previously revealed in February that he would impose a 25% tariff on itemized items such as automobiles, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals. Although itemized tariffs were expected to be announced simultaneously with reciprocal tariffs, recent predictions suggest they will be pursued separately. It has been indicated that reciprocal tariffs will be imposed first, followed by the itemized tariffs.
As news of the suspension of itemized tariffs spread, U.S. automobile corporations saw their stock prices rise on the New York stock exchange that day. Tesla surged by more than 10%, and stocks of Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis also increased compared to the previous day.
