Since the inauguration of the Donald Trump administration, the 'standard of beauty' for conservative women in the United States is changing. More people are receiving plastic surgery to resemble women associated with the Trump family, known as 'MAGA' women.
On the 18th (local time), the Financial Times (FT) reported, "With 53% support from white female voters, President Trump has taken office, and U.S. voters no longer demand gray hair and wrinkled foreheads from public officials," noting, "Instead, overly feminine traits have become the norm in the Trump 2.0 era."
The so-called 'MAGA style' is characterized by an unrealistically youthful face, tanned skin, fuller lips, meticulously styled wavy hairstyles, and well-groomed long nails. FT explained that, as Trump boasted in a CNN interview, "We made the presidency hot," indicating that aesthetic standards have also changed with Trump's administration.
Raquel DeBono, a conservative activist living in New York and host of the single party 'Make America Hot Again', asserts that aesthetic standards among young conservatives are shifting. He noted that while blonde anchors on Fox News were popular in the past, now brown-haired individuals with lightly botoxed faces and moderately enhanced lips are becoming the 'standard of beauty.'
Some people are even undergoing plastic surgery to resemble the Trump family. Norman Rowe, a plastic surgeon based in New York, opened a new clinic in Palm Beach, Florida, in October 2023 and reported a surge in patient visits ahead of New Year's Eve parties and presidential inaugurations.
The most requested surgery in Palm Beach is 'facelift surgery.' Facelift surgery involves incisions behind the ears or on the scalp to remove sagging skin and fat, after which the separated skin is tightly pulled to eliminate wrinkles. This is a suitable procedure for creating an unrealistically youthful face, a characteristic of 'MAGA style.' Facelift and eyelid lifting are also popular procedures. In contrast, nose jobs and breast augmentations are the most popular in New York.
Rowe said, "In the past, phone calls would flood in whenever the Kardashian sisters appeared, but now there are many requests for 'a face like Melania Trump.'" A patient in her early 40s spent $60,000 (about 87.11 million won) for procedures including thread lifting, laser treatments, Botox, and various fillers before a trip to Mar-a-Lago.
The fashion style of the Trump family is also gaining popularity. The role model for the younger generation is President Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump. Ivanka is noted for her chic and neat appearance. On Jan. 20, during President Trump's inauguration, Ivanka wore a dark green Dior dress, styled her hair up, and wore a small beret. Alexa Rodulfo, her longtime hair and makeup artist, stated that her goal is to achieve a 'simple old Hollywood look' for Ivanka.
