Taiwan's media reported that starting on 17th (local time), Taiwan will conduct a new type of war preparedness training aimed at a Chinese invasion for the first time.
According to reports including the Yonhap News Agency, the Taiwanese military, including the army, navy, and air force, will conduct 'immediate war preparedness training' under the nickname 'Sohankwang' (小漢光) for five days starting today.
This training consists of responses to the Chinese military's gray zone tactics, cyber attacks, war preparedness simulations, and protection of critical infrastructure facilities. Gray zone tactics refer to achieving military objectives by promoting civilian vessels.
A source noted that training to prepare for a situation where the Chinese military transitions to war while conducting military exercises in waters and airspace around Taiwan will take place on the 17th. It was explained that the army will deploy armored vehicles in the capital Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Iran areas, and establish defensive lines such as placing explosives along the routes leading into downtown Taipei.
Another source explained, 'This training is being conducted in preparation for the possibility that the Chinese military will adopt tactics used during the Russian military's invasion of Ukraine while conducting exercises in Belarus along with its ally Belarus in February 2022.'
