In a famous hot pot restaurant 'Haidilao' in Shanghai, China, two teenage boys filmed themselves committing a 'urine terror' act and shared the video on social media, leading to controversy.
According to Chinese media Global Times (GT) on the 9th, the Shanghai police placed two 17-year-old Namsung males under administrative detention for posting the controversial hot pot video. The two boys had traveled to Shanghai from another province. While visiting Haidilao, they urinated in a hot pot while intoxicated. The boys, who were using a separate private room, filmed their act and shared it on social media. As the video spread, much criticism emerged online.
On platforms such as Weibo and Baidu, concerns over Haidilao's management were raised, and a 'boycott' was mentioned. In response, the Haidilao side stated, 'We have replaced all dishes and equipment in the store where the incident occurred,' adding, 'We also conducted store disinfection and strongly condemn the unethical and illegal behavior.'
