Kevin Hassett, Chairperson of the National Economic Council (NEC), noted on the 27th (local time) that President Donald Trump will decide on tariff policies for all countries, including Mexico and Canada, after the government investigation results are released on April 1.

Chairperson Hassett said in a CNBC interview that "President Trump has extended the postponement for the imposition of tariffs," adding, "The investigation results will be announced on April 1, and after that, the President will decide how to approach tariff policy for all countries, addressing Mexico and Canada at the same time."

Earlier, President Trump directed the administration to submit by April 1 measures to address the causes of the U.S. trade deficit, including tariffs, and to review existing trade agreements in the memorandum he signed on his inauguration day regarding 'America First Trade Policy.'

For Mexico and Canada, the intention was to impose a 25% tariff starting from the 4th due to insufficient cooperation in blocking illegal immigration and drugs; however, the imposition of tariffs was postponed until March 4 as negotiations with both countries continued.

Chairperson Hassett's explanation is interpreted to mean that the decision regarding the 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada will also be made at the same time as other countries after April 1.
