U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned the results of his tariff imposition plan, stating that he has received a promise of investment worth hundreds of billions of dollars from Apple. It is also reported that Apple will transfer its factories from Mexico to the United States.
On the 21st (local time), according to reports from Reuters and others, President Trump said during a governors' meeting at the White House, "The day before, Apple CEO Tim Cook came to my office, and he said he would invest hundreds of billions of dollars."
President Trump noted, "Cook said he would halt two factories in Mexico and produce products in the United States instead," adding, "I understand that Apple will announce this soon." He emphasized, "They want to avoid tariffs."
Apple's plans for U.S. investment and factory transfer were mentioned as President Trump announced the success of his tariff imposition plan. Since taking office, Trump has indicated a global tariff war by imposing an additional 10% tariff on Chinese products. He is also planning to impose a 25% tariff on Mexico.
However, Apple has not issued a separate statement by this day. It has been estimated that, as Apple produces most of its devices in China and Mexico and sells them in the United States, President Trump's tariff policy will be a significant burden.
