A South Korean national kidnapped in the Philippines has returned to their family after 6 days.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 15th, a South Korean national identified as A, residing in the Clark area of the Philippines, was kidnapped and was rescued by local police on the morning of the same day. A's health condition is reported to be generally good.
A was abducted in the early morning of the 9th while at home by about 10 individuals impersonating officers from the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Immigration. It was reported that the suspects subsequently made several phone calls to the family to demand ransom.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the South Korean embassy in the Philippines provided necessary consular assistance while communicating with local police, the Korean National Police Agency, and the family of the kidnapped individual immediately after receiving the report from A's family. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters also activated the Overseas Citizens Protection Task Force to hold a meeting and discuss safety measures.
Meanwhile, in the Clark area, a South Korean national was also kidnapped and rescued last year.
