According to Reuters on the 20th (local time), Trump responded to a reporter's question, "Will you visit China this year?" by saying, "Maybe, I received an invitation." The Wall Street Journal had reported on the 18th, citing sources, that Trump could visit China within 100 days of taking office, and Trump has confirmed this directly.

Regarding Trump's mention of being invited by China, the Chinese side has not denied it. Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Mao Ning stated during a regular briefing on the 21st, "China is willing to maintain communication and strengthen cooperation with the new U.S. government under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation for mutual benefit, and to appropriately manage differences, thereby driving the China-U.S. relationship to achieve greater progress from a new starting point."

Regarding not imposing tariffs on China, contrary to his initial announcement on his first day, Trump repeated a general stance, saying, "We hope that the U.S. and China can look each other in the eye and jointly drive stable, healthy, and sustainable development of economic and trade relations." He added, "Even if there are differences and friction between China and the U.S., the common interests and cooperation space of both countries are vast, and both countries can strengthen dialogue and negotiations on this."
