Donald Trump was officially inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on the 20th (local time).
President Trump took the oath of office around 12 p.m. in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., and began his duties as president.
At the age of 78 years and 7 months, President Trump set the record as the oldest president in U.S. history. His successful return to power, after 4 years away from office in 2021, is also the first case in 132 years.
He is expected to request a "revolution of common sense" and the "restoration of a complete America" in his inaugural address, which has the theme of "unity, strength, and fairness."
According to a draft of the inaugural address reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) before the inauguration, President Trump is expected to declare in his speech, "I am back to the presidency with the certainty and optimism that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success," adding that "a wave of change is sweeping the nation."
He is also scheduled to state, "My message to the Americans today is that now is the time for us to act with the courage, strength, and vitality of the greatest civilization in history once again."
