Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, is expected to declare a 'national emergency' regarding energy and border issues on the 20th (local time), his inauguration day.
According to foreign media on that day, one of Trump’s aides said in a press briefing held before the inauguration of the 47th president of the United States that "Trump is expected to declare a national emergency related to energy immediately after taking office and sign an executive order focused on securing affordable and reliable energy sources."
The aide also stated that an executive order related to the supply and export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced in Alaska would be issued.
In addition, the president-elect will declare a national emergency related to U.S. border security, linked to the illegal immigration issue, and sign multiple executive orders to block illegal immigration. Trump is expected to direct the Ministry of National Defense to increase the deployment of U.S. troops at the border. He also plans to issue an executive order to end the so-called "catch and release" system, which allows individuals who entered the U.S. without documentation to live in the community while their asylum applications are reviewed in immigration court.
Along with this, an order will be issued to revive the system allowing asylum seekers attempting to enter the U.S. through Mexico to remain in Mexico until their hearing dates are scheduled in immigration court. The aide noted that an executive order declaring human trafficking gangs and criminal cartels as "terror organizations" is also among the targets for Trump to sign on his first day.
Moreover, the president-elect is expected to instruct federal agencies to resume construction of the southern border wall. The first day’s executive order will also include ending the practice of automatically granting citizenship to children born to illegal immigrants within U.S. territory and halting refugee admissions for the next six months.
