Jensen Huang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NVIDIA, announced that he will not attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
According to Reuters, Huang, who is visiting Taiwan, met with reporters outside NVIDIA's New Year party venue in Taipei on the 17th and said, "I will be moving to celebrate the Lunar New Year with employees and family instead of attending the inauguration."
Huang noted, "However, I would like to send my congratulations when the Trump administration is inaugurated."
Earlier, Bloomberg reported on the 16th (local time), citing an anonymous source, that Huang is visiting China and Taiwan this week. It stated that as a Taiwanese-American, he typically has such a schedule during the Lunar New Year and would not attend the inauguration.
In contrast, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla; Jeff Bezos, Chairman of Amazon; and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, among other big tech figures, are expected to attend the U.S. presidential inauguration on the 20th.
Rene HASSBIO, CEO of the British semiconductor design company Arm, and Chu Shouzu, CEO of the Chinese video platform TikTok facing service suspension in the U.S., have also been invited to the inauguration.
Huang previously stated in an interview on the 7th that he had not yet received an invitation to Mar-a-Lago, the Florida residence of President-elect Trump, since the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 5 last year.
He said at that time, "I would gladly go to meet President-elect Trump and congratulate him," adding, "I will do anything for the success of this administration." He also mentioned that it would be good as Trump is expected to relax regulations.
