The White House in the United States confirmed on the 15th its cooperation with the South Korean government, noting "the efforts of the South Korean government and the citizens" in relation to the execution of the second arrest warrant against President Yoon Suk-yeol by the High-ranking Officials Crime Investigation Agency.
According to Reuters, the White House National Security Council (NSC) stated through a spokesperson's statement that "the United States' support for the South Korean people remains unchanged" and "supports our (the United States and South Korea's) common commitment to the rule of law." It added, "The United States will continue to commit to coordination with the South Korean government."
The NSC continued, "The U.S. government will continue to coordinate with the South Korean government led by Acting President Choi Sang-mok, who also serves as the Minister of Strategy and Finance," reaffirming that the South Korea-U.S. alliance is robust.
The High-ranking Officials Crime Investigation Agency began executing the arrest warrant at 10:33 a.m. on the same day, about 5 hours and 20 minutes after starting the operation. The agency plans to request an arrest warrant by the morning of the 17th, within 48 hours from the time of the arrest, after securing as many statements as possible against President Yoon.
