LS Eco Energy said on the 15th that it recently supplied medium-voltage (MV) underground cables to a solar power plant in the United States. As the U.S. market expands investment in artificial intelligence (AI) data center construction and renewable energy, boosting demand for transmission and distribution grid infrastructure, the company is targeting the North American distribution grid market by strengthening collaboration with Gaon Cable's U.S. subsidiary.
The supply was carried out by having ▲ LSCUS, Gaon Cable's U.S. subsidiary, sign a supply contract with a local client and ▲ LS-VINA, LS Eco Energy's production subsidiary in Vietnam, mass-produce and deliver the products. These cables are key distribution infrastructure that collect power generated within the solar power plant and send it to substation facilities.
In particular, LSCUS is more than doubling its local production capacity to meet the surging demand for grid infrastructure in the United States and is actively leveraging LS-VINA's production base. The company said it expects LS-VINA's MV cable exports to the United States to jump more than 20% from a year earlier.
LS Eco Energy plans to expand cooperation with Gaon Cable to steadily increase the supply of distribution cables in the North American power infrastructure market, including solar power plants. Notably, on the strength of its proven track record supplying extra-high-voltage cables in Europe and Singapore, the company recently secured U.S. certification for 230 kV-class cables, a noteworthy development. The industry expects this to serve as a springboard for entry into the North American extra-high-voltage grid market.
