POSCO Group will take part in the "2026 Climate Industry International Expo," set for the 16th to 18th at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) in Busan. The group plans to showcase its decarbonization technologies and the vision of "K-GX (Green Transformation)," the government's "green transition" project.
Under the theme "POSCO, opening the K-GX ecosystem with decarbonized steel," POSCO Group will operate an integrated pavilion for four companies (POSCO Holdings, POSCO, POSCO International, POSCO E&C).
The Climate Industry International Expo is an international event co-hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the World Bank and others, aiming to tackle the climate crisis and advance decarbonization. This year's theme is "The sweeping changes driven by Climate Tech, a leap toward a decarbonized world."
The POSCO Group pavilion will comprise four zones: decarbonization innovative technologies, core materials, carbon-free energy, and the K-GX ecosystem.
In the decarbonization innovative technologies zone, POSCO Group will present its steel decarbonization capabilities, including a model of the "HyREX" process—POSCO's hydrogen direct reduction technology—bridge technologies based on blast furnaces, and electric arc furnaces. HyREX is a technology that produces molten iron using hydrogen as the reducing agent instead of coal. POSCO plans to complete a HyREX demonstration facility in Pohang with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons in 2028 and secure commercialization technology by 2030.
In the core materials zone, the company will introduce key steel products that underpin manufacturing's AX (AI transformation) and GX (green transformation), including ESS (energy storage systems), data centers, physical AI (artificial intelligence), new mobility, and power infrastructure.
In the carbon-free energy zone, POSCO International will share its domestic offshore wind and solar projects. POSCO E&C will present its EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) capabilities in next-generation energy fields such as nuclear power, Small Modular Reactor (SMR), and high-temperature gas reactors.
In the K-GX ecosystem zone, POSCO Group will present its plan to build the Southeast region cluster into a representative success model of the "K-GX industrial ecosystem," centered on the HyREX demonstration facility. This model is a project to establish the Southeast region as a decarbonization cluster linked to the HyREX demonstration facility.
