HL Group's Autonomous Driving solutions company HL Klemove said on the 9th that it has formed a partnership with global IT company Lenovo to tap the Autonomous Driving market.
At the signing ceremony held on the 8th at Lenovo's R&D center in Shanghai, China, key officials from both companies attended, including President Lee Yun-haeng of HL Klemove and Vice President Peter Xu of Lenovo.
Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to preemptively respond to the fully Autonomous Driving market of level 4 or higher (a level of Autonomous Driving in which the system responds even in emergencies) that will open in earnest going forward, and to enhance competitiveness in the global in-vehicle computing business.
The collaboration is divided into three stages. It will proceed in the order of joint development of an automotive AI high-performance computing (HPC) platform, order intake, and mass production. HL Klemove will be solely responsible for order intake and mass production.
HL Klemove will move to secure clients based on the global automaker network and region-specific response experience it has built since 2012. It will also leverage its accumulated mass-production experience from producing control components required for level 2 and level 2+ Autonomous Driving at key manufacturing bases in China, North America, and India.
HL Klemove has capabilities spanning from Autonomous Driving component development to system integration and production. Based on manufacturing performance accumulated since 2012 and about 2,700 patents, it plans to unveil differentiated Autonomous Driving solutions with Lenovo.
President Lee Yun-haeng said, "We will enhance global market competitiveness by combining HL Klemove's technological, sales, and production capabilities with Lenovo's Autonomous Driving controller design expertise."
Vice President Peter Xu said, "We will accelerate entry into new markets by leveraging HL Klemove's manufacturing capabilities and global supply chain."
