Hanwha said on the 6th that about 1 million spectators attended the "Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026 with Hanwha," held on the 5th around Yeouido Hangang Park in Seoul.
Marking its 22nd year, the "Seoul International Fireworks Festival with Hanwha" featured teams from Hanwha, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Hanwha Group covered the entire cost of about 13 billion won for the festival, including 4.5 billion won for safety management expense.
Hanwha Group has continued the festival for more than 20 years since launching the first fireworks festival in 2000, except when it was inevitably unable to hold the event due to COVID-19. In line with Chairman Kim Seung-youn of Hanwha Group's belief of "together, further," the festival has been expanded so more citizens can enjoy it.
Hanwha Group said Chairman Kim emphasized ahead of this year's festival that "the reason Hanwha shoots fireworks into the sky is because it is a happiness that everyone who looks up at the sky can share, and we want to deliver that happiness."
Hanwha put its utmost efforts into safety management and maintaining order. More than 5,000 safety and order personnel, the largest number ever, were on site, including about 1,200 Hanwha employee volunteers. Hanwha spent 4.5 billion won on safety management, including labor costs related to safety and production of materials. That was up about 17% from last year's 3.85 billion won in safety management expense.
Hanwha also set up a joint situation room with related agencies such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and made thorough efforts in on-site safety management by responding swiftly to contingencies based on close cooperation. In addition, Hanwha actively used the safety management smart app "Orange Safety," which, in connection with telecom companies, is equipped with a function to measure crowd density in real time, to support dispersing crowds.
After the event ended, the Hanwha employee volunteer group ran a "clean campaign," picking up trash and tidying up the venue around Yeouido Hangang Park late into the night.
