The event was attended by Executive Vice President Jeong Ho-geun, head of future strategy at Hyundai Motor Group; Khamis Al Shamakhi, MTCIT Vice Minister for transport; and Tariq Al Junaidi, Omco chief executive officer (CEO).

Under the MOU, Hyundai Motor Group will pursue cooperation on sustainable mobility solutions with key Omani public institutions. The eco-friendly mobility solutions will start in public transit and public services and are expected to expand across Oman's broader mobility market.

The focus is introducing Oman's first hydrogen city buses and building ultrafast EV charging infrastructure. The state-owned transport operator Mwasalat will designate a "Green Route," an eco-friendly-vehicle-only line, on Muscat's public transit network and deploy Hyundai Motor's Elec City hydrogen electric buses to run a pilot passenger service.

Omco, the energy distribution subsidiary of Oman's state energy group OQ, will operate Hyundai Kefico's 240 kW-class ultrafast EV chargers at Omco-run gas stations in the Halban area through its eco-friendly charging infrastructure subsidiary, EVo. On-site for six months, it will evaluate charging performance and user demand to lay the groundwork for expanding charging infrastructure.

Through this cooperation, Hyundai Motor Group plans to expand the eco-friendly mobility business, which started in Oman's public transit sector, into the broader commercial vehicle and passenger car markets.
