Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) held the "2026 second management strategy workshop" at its Busan headquarters on the 3rd.
The workshop, under the theme "In the era of megaprojects, growth for all completed through technology finance," was prepared to review the status of major policies to support the realization of a "non-fungible Korea" and to seek future strategies. Executives of Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC), heads of headquarters departments, and branch managers nationwide attended.
At the workshop, major pending issues included directions for reorganizing the institution's system to provide comprehensive support for the "third venture boom," support projects for inheritance mergers and acquisitions (M&A) of corporations, and financial support projects to accelerate the commercialization of government research and development (R&D) outcomes. Attendees shared on-the-ground experiences and opinions and discussed concrete execution plans to enhance policy effectiveness.
Lee Gwang-jae, National Assembly Special Committee on Budget and Accounts Chairperson, visited Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) and gave a special lecture on the theme "a country that makes the people wealthy." The Chairperson presented the direction of transition for Korea's economy to leap into a global venture powerhouse and shared views on key issues such as securing AI sovereignty, restoring the growth ladder, technology valuation, and technology protection.
Kwon Hyung-taek, chairperson of Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC), said, "This is the time for KOTEC to think hard and flesh out the new projects it will pursue, in step with the government's three major megaprojects and policy stance," adding, "KOTEC's role is to carry the recovery trend of our economy, driven by strong exports, into the growth of technology small and medium-sized venture corporations."
Kwon added, "All the more in times when internal and external uncertainties such as the Middle East war persist, KOTEC must go beyond a simple support institution to become a true partner that first reaches out to corporations and shares their hardships."
Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) has been expanding policy finance support for technology small and medium-sized venture corporations and a field-centered organizational base this year. In the first half, it expanded policy finance support such as intellectual property (IP) guarantees and restart-support guarantees to support technology-led growth of deep-tech corporations in AI, bio, and semiconductors, and the re-challenge of those who failed despite best efforts. It opened the Haeundae branch to improve financial access for corporations in eastern Busan and newly established the corporate succession M&A support team to back corporate succession M&A.
In the second half, it further expanded organizations to strengthen specialized support functions for small and medium-sized ventures. On Jul. 1, it launched the "R&D finance department," which promotes the commercialization of R&D outcomes, and the "SME technology damage assessment center," which supports technology protection and relief of damages for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Based on the newly established organization and support system, Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) plans to respond to the diverse policy finance needs of small and medium-sized ventures and strengthen its role as a policy finance institution that supports corporations' innovation and growth.
