Hanjin Group said on the 30th that it sponsored the 5th Ilwoo Cup National Table Tennis Championships. The Ilwoo Cup tournament is named after the pen name of the late former chairman Cho Yang-ho.
Marking its fifth year, the Ilwoo Cup table tennis tournament runs for two days from the 29th to today at Incheon Gyeyang Gymnasium. The Korea Table Tennis Association is the host and organizer.
The Ilwoo Cup table tennis tournament has been held since 2022 as part of efforts to commemorate former chairman Cho Yang-ho, who died in 2019. Cho served as president of the Korea Table Tennis Association from 2008 until his death.
This year's tournament also featured programs honoring the former chairman's dedication to the sport, including an exhibition of photos of Cho Yang-ho's activities during his lifetime for the development of table tennis and the screening of a memorial video.
Hanjin Group and the Korea Table Tennis Association plan to continue the late chairman's wishes and further develop the Ilwoo Cup National Table Tennis Championships into a tournament that supports the growth of youth table tennis players and contributes to the sport's development in Korea.
