Kumho Tire(073240) The tentative wage and collective bargaining agreement prepared by labor and management was voted down in a vote of union members.
According to the Kumho Tire union on the 25th, 2,871 out of 3,309 eligible union members took part in the vote on the tentative wage and collective bargaining agreement held on the 23rd–24th. Of these, 54.61% (1,568) of participating members opposed the tentative wage agreement, rejecting it, and the tentative collective bargaining agreement was also rejected, with 54.03% (1,551) voting against.
On the 21st, labor and management reached a tentative agreement that included: ▲ a 3% increase in base pay ▲ a 5.5 million won management performance bonus ▲ a 500,000 won work incentive ▲ a 2.5 million won incentive for implementing the 2018 special agreement.
It was reported that some union members opposed the agreement's method of raising pay, with demands that the lower the seniority, the higher the base pay increase rate should be.
The union leadership decided to further gather members' opinions rather than immediately going on strike. It plans to convene a dispute countermeasures committee soon to discuss a renegotiation schedule with management and whether to launch a strike.
