Korean Air Lines(003490) said on the 24th that it will operate the Incheon–Hiroshima, Japan route daily starting Dec. 23.
The Incheon–Hiroshima route departs Incheon International Airport at 10:35 a.m. and arrives at Hiroshima Airport at 12:15 p.m. The return flight departs Hiroshima Airport at 1:25 p.m. and arrives at Incheon International Airport at 3:25 p.m. The aircraft will be Airbus's next-generation A321neo.
Hiroshima is the largest city in the Chugoku region in western Honshu, Japan. It is home to Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Japan's three most scenic spots. It is also famous for diverse travel content such as hot springs and cuisine. It is considered a transportation hub that links major cities in the Chugoku region, including Okayama.
Hiroshima is home to the headquarters and major production facilities of the Japanese automaker Mazda, and also hosts the semiconductor production facilities of the U.S. semiconductor company Micron. With a variety of steel, machinery, and manufacturing corporations, demand for visits for industrial and business purposes is also expected.
Korean Air Lines is steadily strengthening its route competitiveness connecting regional Japanese cities in step with rising demand for travel to Japan. The Incheon–Aomori route was increased to five weekly flights on the summer schedule, while the Niigata and Komatsu routes operate daily. The Incheon–Okayama route also expanded to four weekly flights. In addition, a late-night service has been newly introduced on the Incheon–Kansai route.
