Hyundai Motor(005380) unveiled the interior and exterior design of the full-change model of the compact sport-utility vehicle (SUV) Tucson, "The All New Tucson." It is the fifth-generation model introduced about six years after the fourth-generation model in Sep. 2020, and is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter.
According to Hyundai Motor on the 19th, The All New Tucson measures 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, 1,685 mm high, with a wheelbase (distance between the centers of the front and rear wheels) of 2,785 mm. In particular, the length and wheelbase have increased by 60 mm and 30 mm, respectively, compared with the previous model, and the width is also expanded by 40 mm, securing best-in-class interior space.
Second-row headroom has increased by 29 mm to 1,031 mm, and the second-row door opening angle has been expanded from the previous 73 degrees to 83 degrees.
The All New Tucson reinterprets, in a modern way, the tension and strength inherent in steel based on Hyundai Motor's design philosophy, "Art of Steel." It also realizes the image of a confident next-generation SUV through a future-oriented lighting design.
At the front, vertical H-edge lighting daytime running lights and a horizontal slim center lamp create a wide and stable look. On the side, three-dimensional volume added to the side fenders and rear doors reveals clear light and shadow depending on the direction of light, while horizontal lines traversing the body emphasize the tension unique to steel and the dynamic stance of an SUV. At the rear, prism rear lamps with three-dimensionally protruding lens structures are applied.
Inside, a floating structure that visually separates the upper and lower parts of the crash pad around a horizontal line connecting the left and right air vents enhances the sense of openness. A slim display and a double D-cut steering wheel minimize driver distraction. Convenience has been enhanced with features such as a card holder on the side of the driver's left air vent.
Hyundai Motor also offers The All New Tucson "XRT" trim for customers who prefer an outdoor lifestyle. With a dedicated design that emphasizes a rugged sensibility, it presents a solid and tough off-road SUV image. Inside, exclusive XRT-trim patterned seats and other features create a distinctive atmosphere.
