Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group, revealed what LG Group's first bipedal Humanoid Robot, set to debut in the first quarter of next year, will look like as he reunited with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang after two months. While its upper body is similar to the home robot "Cloid" that LG Electronics unveiled at the world's largest home appliance and IT trade show, "CES 2026," in January, the difference is that it has two legs. Cloid has an upper body similar to a human, but wheels on its lower body.
According to LG on the 14th (local time), Chairman Koo and CEO Huang signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 13th (local time) at Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, for strategic business cooperation in three key areas: Humanoid Robot, artificial intelligence (AI) factories, and mobility. At the event, LG unveiled a miniature of the bipedal Humanoid Robot.
A video posted on Nvidia's official Instagram shows Chairman Koo and CEO Huang exchanging greetings right after signing the MOU letter. CEO Huang first extends a hand to Chairman Koo, saying, "Good to see you. Real, it's real," and Koo responds, "Real," as they shake hands.
On the table where Chairman Koo and CEO Huang placed the MOU letter sits a miniature of the bipedal Humanoid Robot LG is developing. It is a scaled-down model of the actual bipedal Humanoid Robot that LG is building based on Nvidia's Isaac GR00T. "Isaac" is a platform where robots learn intelligence and behavior to move and perform tasks autonomously through virtual simulation. "GR00T" is a robot foundation model that serves as the brain of a general-purpose humanoid.
After signing the MOU, the two left friendly autographs on the outside of the bipedal Humanoid Robot miniature's box. They also lifted the bipedal Humanoid Robot miniature together and took photos.
A close look at the photo shows a list behind the box containing the bipedal Humanoid Robot miniature of the two companies' robot-related components and technologies. From LG Group, LG Electronics' actuators, LG Energy Solution batteries, LG Innotek's multi-sensing modules, and LG Display's curved displays are applied.
Among Nvidia's technologies, in addition to Isaac GR00T, software related to Humanoid Robot such as Jetson Thor and Halos for Robotics is listed as being installed. Jetson Thor is a computing module and platform developed for next-generation Robotics, Autonomous Driving, and on-device AI processing for Humanoid Robot. Halos for Robotics is an integrated safety system for robots.
Meanwhile, Chairman Koo and CEO Huang reunited after two months. When CEO Huang visited Korea in June, he held a meeting with Chairman Koo and top management at LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul. After a roughly one-hour closed-door meeting at the time, Chairman Koo said, "We didn't have enough time to cover all the details," and noted, "We discussed meeting again in California next time."
