GS Global is opening a new branch in Houston, Texas, to strengthen its on-the-ground sales base for targeting the North American energy and infrastructure market.
On the 13th, GS Global said it held an opening ceremony for the Houston branch on the 11th in Uptown, a major commercial district in Houston.
The event was attended by Consul General Lee Kyung-eun of the Republic of Korea in Houston, major clients including U.S. infrastructure corporation Jindal USA, and representatives from major Korea corporations such as POSCO, Hyundai Steel, Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), and Hanwha Ocean.
The company said it established the Houston branch to proactively respond to project-based steel demand stemming from surging investment in energy, power, and infrastructure in the United States. GS Global had been operating mainly through its Los Angeles (LA), California, entity, and has now added another base in Houston, a hub for the energy and infrastructure industries.
The Houston branch will go beyond importing and selling steel to lead efforts in uncovering and supporting orders for project-based steel demand, participating in the U.S. energy industry value chain, and expanding into related business areas such as energy, chemicals, and shipbuilding equipment and materials.
GS Global plans to focus on stabilizing operations in the second half of this year by building a local network and strengthening its project pipeline management system. Starting next year, it will develop the Houston branch into a key hub for business development in the U.S. South through order support and the discovery of new businesses.
With the opening of the Houston branch, GS Global has secured an overseas network of 23 bases in 16 countries worldwide.
