HD Hyundai held a group presidents' meeting to review each affiliate's first-half results and future growth strategies. HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Ki-sun called for decision-making for sustainable growth from a long-term perspective rather than short-term results.
HD Hyundai said on the 13th that it held a group presidents' meeting at the Pangyo Global R&D Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, with Chairman Chung, Vice Chairmen Cho Young-cheul, Cho Seok and Lee Sang-gyun, and the CEOs of 11 affiliates in shipbuilding, offshore, energy and construction equipment in attendance.
At the meeting, the presidents reviewed each affiliate's first-half results, new businesses and future growth strategies, and discussed second-half business plans and execution strategies to respond to internal and external uncertainties.
They also reviewed major group-wide issues such as accelerating the artificial intelligence transformation (AX) and execution plans by business. They examined the status of AI technology adoption within the group and reviewed preventive measures for information security risks that may arise during the adoption process.
Chairman Chung said, "Even as uncertainty has increased worldwide, our group has delivered solid results in most businesses," emphasizing the need to make decisions from a long-term perspective. He noted that if decisions are made with a focus on long-term performance rather than immediate outcomes, the priorities of what needs to be done now may change.
Chung said, "We have the painful experience of paying a steep price because we fixated on near-term results and failed to read market changes," adding, "We will lead the way in creating a management environment that can drive sustainable growth with a 10- or 20-year long-term view, without being buried in short-term performance."
Chung continued, "We must think more intensely about and prepare for future businesses," and added, "Also, because the future we envision can only be completed when safety is ensured, make safety the top priority in management and concentrate your capabilities on it."
